The ADDIE Model
This instructional design framework has been around in this version since the 1980's but is still one of the most commonly used. The acronym stands for: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation.
Backward Design
By beginning planning with the goal(s) of the course, the structure of a class becomes more focused.

Flipped Classroom
By analyzing which activities are best suited for which portions of a course, time in a class can be used more efficiently. This includes looking at posting short lectures online for homework so that class time can be used more productively for discussion or guided practice. This could also include looking at various means of synchronous and asynchronous learning (e.g., video-conferencing, message-board discussions, and response software).
